Implants

The goal of dentistry is to restore the patient to normal function, aesthetics, speech, comfort and health. Implant Dentistry offers patients the ability to achieve this goal.

Single tooth implants are now the preferred treatment option to replace an anterior or posterior missing tooth. This treatment option usually offers the best long term solution without sacrificing the adjacent natural teeth.

Implants are also a great option for patients with dentures that are loose. Implant supported dentures restores the patients self esteem as well as allows proper nutrition. After extractions, bone loss occurs rapidly and continues to be lost until we die. Dental implants serve not only as anchors for the dentures but implants are one of the best preventive maintenance procedures in dentistry. At this time, the only way to prevent bone loss in an edentulous arch is by placing implants. Implant supported dentures may return the function to almost normal.

A major advantage of implants is that they don't decay like natural teeth. Delaying Implant Dentistry can be more costly as bone will re absorb and bone grafts may be needed in order to allow implant placement.

Implants can be placed a few months after extractions or in some cases implants can be placed on the same visit of the extractions. In most cases, implants need to remain undisturbed for a few months  before a final restoration can be placed.

Implant dentistry can take anywhere from 6 to 12 months. This allows for healing time but also makes implant dentistry more affordable to patients.
